From I-40, take exit 333 (Highway 54 North)(by the Love's and Flying J Truck Stops) and head north about 7/8 of a mile to the first light on Route 66 Blvd. Hang a left. The Historic Route 66 Motel is the second motel on the left, about a quarter mile or so from the light.
Although we hate to admit it, we suppose it is possible to miss The Historic Route 66 Motel. But, you really cannot miss Tucumcari! On the grounds of the Mesalands Community College is a nearly 300 foot tall lone windmill (with a happy little light on top). You can surely find your way to this photo op location, and with a little more effort (and by heading east about a mile and a half), you'll come across the welcoming Historic Route 66 Motel.
